The best way to address pain and discomfort are found inside the body. When you have sore muscles or achy joints you should turn to natural anti-inflammatories such as coconut oil, leafy greens, celery, blueberries, turmeric, ginger and bone broth. All of these should be found regularly in your diet. Maybe you are working on improving your health and diet but still need a little boost. This externally soothing muscle cream is a great support home remedy. It helps relieve headaches, stiff necks, soreness after a workout and is useful for even minor injuries like bumps and bruises.
Sore Muscle Soothing Lotion
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup shea butter, cocoa butter
- 1/4 cup Beeswax (Optional, this helps it stick together more and be less oily)
- 1 tablespoon Menthol Crystals
- 10-15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Arnica oil
Put the coconut oil, Shea butter and beeswax in a glass quart jar. Fill a small pot full of water and put it on the stove top over medium heat. Place the glass jar in the pot and stir contents till dissolved. Take the jar out of the water and place on countertop, stir in the peppermint oil and menthol crystals. When stirring in the peppermint and menthol crystal do NOT look into the jar or hang your head over the opening. The warm oils will make the crystals and peppermint vaporize slightly and the air will be very potent.
Pour lotion in cute shallow jars (something like these)
Enjoy this cream whenever you need a peppermint-y touch on sore muscles.
NOTE: With menthol crystals included this cream may be too potent for pregnant women and children. Keep out of reach of little ones and keep away from eyes.
